ABOUT THE SCHOOL
The Manipur Public School is an institution run by the Manipur Public School Society which is an Autonomous body. The Society is registered under the Societies Regd. Act 1860 (Registered No. 2742 of 21-03-1979). The Hon'ble Chief Minister, Manipur is the Chairman of the society, Hon'ble Education Minister, Manipur is the Vice Chairman. Vice Chancellor of Manipur University is the Co-Vice-Chairman. Other members of the Executive Committee include the Chief Secretary, Commissioner/Secretary (Finance), Chief Engineer, PWD, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Secretary, Education(S), Director of Education(S) and the Principal of the school. The school started functioning with effect from 17th October, 1979 in the Central School campus at Lamphelpat. It shifted to its own buildings at Koirengei on 16th August, 1983.
The school is in receipt of annual grant-in aid from the Government of Manipur.
OBJECTIVE
The primary aim of the Manipur Public School is to impart an excellent, thorough and modern education to the meritorious children of the State, and to impart a sound mental and moral training that will create praiseworthy character and a sense of balanced judgment in its pupils so as to enable them to blossom into useful and responsible citizens of tomorrow. The School would, inter-alia aim at providing high class education to the sons and daughters of poor parents who posses excellence but for want of opportunity are denied their due chance for the fullest expressions of their inborn quality. For this the state Government has been moved for institution of a scheme of merit scholarship in this school.
It will be the constant Endeavour of the Manipur Public School to be among the first to take appropriate decisions so as to convert the National Policy of Education into concrete programmes of active collaboration with the Central Board of Secondary Education.
AFFILIATION
The School is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi upto the Senior Secondary Stage(Class-XII)(Affiliation No.1230002).The first batch of candidates for the All India Secondary School Examination (Class-X) was sent up in 1985 and the first batch of candidates for All India Senior School Certificate Examination (Class-XII) was sent up in the year 1987.
MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION
The medium of instruction and the spoken language in the School is English.
